the entertainers’ home
Major House Renovation
An ageing family home traded hands and was given a new lease on life through this major renovation for a young family with a predilection for entertaining guests. The existing footprint and the majority of the existing roofs were retained, with some limited additions. The interior was completely gutted; a few walls were knocked out; door and window openings were reconsidered, and the stair was repositioned. New stacking doors are used to great effect for free flow between the internal and external entertainment areas and the beautiful garden.
The house retains a memory of the 1970’s - when it was originally constructed - with the low, horisontal volumes and pitched slate roofs; as well as the palette of browns and creams. New oak flooring, solid wood decking and custom oak joinery, combined with dramatic stone and porcelain counters and natural sandstone elements in the garden, add a layer of luxury.
